Holidays also are over for most of us and the number of tourists that fill Barcelona in Summer has also decreased notoriously. Getting back to the routine could be quite hard, unless you can find some plans to do in your free time that could make your day. Don’t let the cold autumn and the October routine waste your energy, enjoy Barcelona in autumn!

Here you have some tips to enjoy Barcelona this fall:

  1. Thematic route around Barcelona.

How many Barcelonas you think you know? The city hides many more than you believe. From Romantic Barcelona to the Contemporary Barcelona, to the Medieval and Modernist, discovering secret places by artists like Gaudí or Pablo Picasso.

One of the most unknown and at the same time awesome visits in town is the guided tour of the Refugi 307. This air-raid shelter in the quarter of Poble Sec is one over the more than one thousand that were built during the Civil War. It is comprised of near 400 metres of tunnels, with a height of 2.10 metres and between 1.5 and 2 metres wide. Refugi 307 is one of the finest examples of a bomb shelter built in Barcelona, and has at the same time become a true memorial to the people’s struggle to survive in the face of adversity.

You can visit it by less than 4€ but there are limited number of places available and they urge visitors to reserve in advance.

  1. Discover the markets of the city.

Besides the well known market La Boquería, Barcelona can be proud of having one market near each neighbourhood.

The most traditional products and products imported from the other side of the world, on the markets we can found either fresh and processed products, and normally all of them include a bar where you can take some drinks while tasting their gastronomic offer.

We can find almost more 40 markets in Barcelona, so discovering all of them may take you some time.

If you want to have a good panoramic view of the best city markets, we present you the sixth edition of Mercat de Mercats,  which will be held in the Avenida de la Catedral from October 23rd to October 25th. It brings together the sellers of different markets of Barcelona, restaurateurs and food and wine producers, in order to offer to the participants the most fresh and quality gastronomic products. As in previous years, we can taste a selection of tapas made by Barcelona chefs and enjoy the best catalonian wines.

Barcelona has many areas for “tapeo” where we can enjoy its amazing creations. Maybe the most well known and timeless are the Poble Sec area, with it always vibrant Blai Street, and the Barceloneta quarter, where you can find long queues of people waiting for their turn every Sunday of the year.
