The Terraces: The jewel of the crown
Every boasting bar or restaurant in Barcelona has to offer a terrace. It doesn’t matter if big or small, with sea view or in the nook of a hidden place; the terraces are Barcelona’s jewel of the crown and, both as natives as visitors; we are always looking for the newest or friendliest terrace to spend our spring afternoons. Here are some options:
El BOO is one of the most visited restaurants of the city. Not only for its shape of a boat and its location next to the sea, but also because for its Mediterranean cuisine, mixing traditional touches with special homemade creations.
Located in the zone of Mar Bella Bay, it attracts every day a lot of tourists and local people which are looking for a plate with sea flavor and the marine breeze on their skin. From may, the restaurant extends its opening hours and it is recommended to make a reservation to avoid the waiting time.
If we continue the coast line to the south, we discover another great option with Mediterranean touch, Mamarosa Beach. Located exactly under the Hotel W, Mamarosa beach offers us a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with views at Sant Sebastià Bay. It’s one of the trendiest areas in summer and on its terrace we find a mixture of surfers, fashion victims and bloggers which always offer some stuff to talk about. The restaurant is often crowded with people for a simple reason: comfortable couches, healthy and tasty food and a big choice of cocktails while enjoying the sea views. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance to indicate the preference of sitting on the terrace to assure a favorable table for lunch or dinner.
If we don’t want to change the area, la Barceloneta offers us a big variety of terraces. Starting from the last one, the restaurant Salamanca, always full of visitors eager of paella and sea food, up to terraces more alternatives and full of food like the Makamaka restaurant. This restaurant opened its doors less than 3 years ago, and from that on, it has transformed itself into a reference for the lovers of “terraceo”, burgers and homemade cocktails. (And why not to mention that it represents the whole hipster culture of Barcelona)
Its potatoes with sauce of mayonnaise and wasabi are a delight obligatory for every visitor and its variety of burger seduce us to try them all. If you don’t make a reservation the waiting time may swing between 5 minutes or half an hour. But the international and picturesque atmosphere makes the waiting, without any doubt, more pleasant.
If you are that kind of person which prefers the mountains over the sea, we will suggest you an option to overlook Barcelona from top of the heights: the restaurant Mirabé, situated at the end of the Avenue Tibidabo. Its immense terrace offers us a panoramic view over Barcelona which seems like a postcard. It is a perfect place for romantic dinners or also a dinner with friends, because after dining there is a high supply of drinks, nice music and a bright environment with international tourists. Furthermore there are a lot of options to organize private parties, like birthday parties or group dinners.
This spring don’t stay at home, take the opportunity and try something new!
