Promovido por el empresario Bonifacio Eslava, sobrino del músico Hilarión Eslava, el edificio original, se componía de un pequeño salón, con el nombre de Salón Eslava y capacidad para un millar de espectadores. Llegó a ser muy popular como plataforma de las diversas facetas del teatro popular y estrenó autores como Gala, Lorca o Valle Inclán.

Acquired the premises by businessman Pedro Trapote, the nightclub was opened on the night of February 24, 1981, the day after the coup d'état perpetrated in the Congress of Deputies. Soon it would become one of the places of leisure of reference in Madrid. During the 1980s, it was the site of a concentration of characters from the so-called Movida from Madrid.
